The Marina offers fantastic views of the San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz, Angel Island and the Golden Gate Bridge. It is a neighborhood of luxury homes, apartment buildings, Mediterranean, Victorian and Edwardian style homes. There are trendy shops, spas, bars, and restaurants. The site was the former location of the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition. The Palace of Fine Arts is now all that remains from the Exposition, and is a favorite spot for newlyweds with its lake and white swans. The neighborhood does not offer much in terms of diversity, but you will find many fit young professionals jogging into yoga, with SUVs, wearing the latest fashions, and tuned into the current trends. It is one of the most affluent areas in San Francisco.
Chestnut Street offers fantastic shopping, including the Apple Store, several bars such as the Tipsy Pig and restaurants.
Crissy Field was a former airfield but has been transformed into a large beautiful green grass area with strategically placed picnic tables and beautiful Bay views. It has bike paths and walking trails. It is also home to some 100 different species of birds. Review: Yelp.
