Lower Pacific Heights Neighborhood (94109 & 94115) (6c)
Lower Pacific Heights is also known as the Upper Fillmore. It is located in the Northern part of San Francisco between California to the north and Geary to the south and Presidio Ave and Gough. It is the commercial corridor of Fillmore Street between California and Post. It includes Japantown within Lower Pacific Heights.
Historically, the area was considered part of the Western Addition and a middle-class neighborhood geographically. The area has become wealthier and more upscale with the escalation of San Francisco
property values in the 1980s and 1990s. This area also offers easy access to public transportation via MUNI along Geary and California St.
Japan Center opened in 1968 and has several Japanese restaurants, retailers, and art stores. It was originally called the Japanese Cultural and Trade Center.
