Hayes Valley Neighborhood (94102 & 94117) (6b)
Hayes Valley is the neighborhood whose northern border is roughly Fell/McAllister, southern Duboce/Market, western Divisadero/Castro and eastern Gough/Market. Hayes Valley has evolved over the last 20 years into a haven for haute couture. You can find a myriad of restaurant goers and window shoppers. There are trendy boutiques, interior decorator stores, funky art galleries, and upscale restaurants and nightspots. Hayes Valley however has a sense of community and a nonexclusive feel despite all the development and high prices. It is a mixed community where some of the businesses that braved the less-than-savory days are still around, such as the Hayes Street Grill, among the newer upscale shops.
Duboce Park is located in the south part of Hayes Valley just north of Duboce St. between Scott and Steiner. It is less than one block wide and is popular with dog owners as it has an off-leash dog play area in the Multi-Use Area (the southeastern section of the park). There is a children's play structure area, basketball courts, a large public lawn area and along Scott Street there is a labyrinth used for meditation. Parkscan Info. Reviews: Google and Yelp.
Harvey Milk Recreational Arts building lies along the west end of Duboce Park. The center has a photography center, dance studio, music program and is used to host various community events. It is located at 50 Scott St between Lloyd St & Waller St. Parkscan Info. Review: Yelp.
