Buena Vista/Ashbury Heights Neighborhood (94117 & 94131) (5f)

Buena Vista / Ashbury Heights is the neighborhood roughly between Frederick and Haight to the north, 17th St and Roosevelt Wy to the south, Clayton and Masonic to the west and Castro and Roosevelt Wy to the east.  This neighborhood is dominated by Buena Vista Park with steep cut streets leading up to the park.  Ashbury Heights is an affluent neighborhood with many of the houses commanding downtown City views.  This is a very family friendly neighborhood. You should be aware that it can be quite windy in the afternoon and late evenings when the fog comes in. Street parking is tight and somewhat treacherous so if you have to park on the Street it is a good idea to have a compact car.  There however is plenty of public transportation.

Buena Vista Park on a steep hill has stunning views all around the city. It was founded in1867 making it the oldest park in San Francisco. It provides steep paved paths, dirt paths and winding wooden stairs which are fun for off leash dogs to roam.  Parkscan Info. Review: Yelp.
